LOW PRESSURE STARTS TO DEEPEN ALONG THIS BOUNDARY DURING<\/p>\n<p>THE MORNING&#8230;WHICH WILL THEN TRACK NORTHEAST JUST OFF THE MID<\/p>\n<p>ATLANTIC COAST TUE <a href=\"http:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/glossary.php?word=AFTN\">AFTN<\/a>\/EARLY EVENING AND THEN SHIFT WELL EAST OF<\/p>\n<p>THE DELMARVA AFTER MIDNIGHT. MEANWHILE&#8230;A CANADIAN HIGH WILL<\/p>\n<p>BRING A VERY COLD ARCTIC AIRMASS INTO THE NE STATES WHICH WILL<\/p>\n<p>RUSH INTO THE MID ATLANTIC REGION LATE IN THE DAY THROUGH WED. THE<\/p>\n<p>COASTAL LOW FINALLY MOVES INTO NOVA SCOTIA BY WED <a href=\"http:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/glossary.php?word=AFTN\">AFTN<\/a>\/EVENING AS<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/glossary.php?word=SFC\">SFC<\/a> HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS INTO THE MID ATLANTIC REGION FROM THE SW.<\/p>\n<p>SEVERAL IMPACTS ARE EXPECTED TODAY THROUGH TONIGHT DUE TO THE<\/p>\n<p>INTERACTION OF THE COASTAL LOW WITH THE VERY COLD ARCTIC AIR TO<\/p>\n<p>THE NORTH. THEY ARE AS FOLLOWS:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>TEMPERATURES&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL REACH THEIR PEAK LATE THIS MORNING WITH TEMPS<\/p>\n<p>IN THE MID 30S FAR NW TO AROUND 50 FAR SE. TEMPERATURES WILL THEN<\/p>\n<p>FALL THROUGH THE <a href=\"http:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/glossary.php?word=AFTN\">AFTN<\/a> AS A COLD ARCTIC AIRMASS GETS PULLED INTO THE<\/p>\n<p>REGION ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE COASTAL LOW. STRONG COLD AIR<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/glossary.php?word=ADVECTION\">ADVECTION<\/a> PROCESSES TAKE OVER BY EARLY THIS EVENING AS THE LOW PULLS<\/p>\n<p>AWAY TO THE NORTHEAST&#8230;CAUSING TEMPERATURES TO PLUMMET QUICKLY.<\/p>\n<p>TEMPS SHOULD RANGE FROM THE LOW-MID 20S NW TO UPPER 30S\/LOWER 40S<\/p>\n<p>SE. OVERNIGHT LOWS ARE EXPECTED TO BOTTOM OUT IN THE SINGLE DIGITS<\/p>\n<p>NW TO MID-UPPER TEENS SE.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>PRECIPITATION&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>PRECIPITATION MOVES INTO THE AREA FROM THE NW THIS MORNING AND<\/p>\n<p>OVERSPREADS THE ENTIRE FORECAST AREA BY MID-LATE <a href=\"http:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/glossary.php?word=AFTN\">AFTN<\/a>. THERE IS<\/p>\n<p>AMPLE LIFT PRESENT TODAY&#8230;ESPECIALLY THROUGH THE <a href=\"http:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/glossary.php?word=DENDRITIC\">DENDRITIC<\/a> GROWTH<\/p>\n<p>ZONE. AS THE <a href=\"http:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/glossary.php?word=WET%20BULB%20ZERO\">WET BULB ZERO<\/a> LINE FALLS BELOW ZERO THROUGH THE MORNING<\/p>\n<p>IN THE NORTH&#8230;EXPECT PRECIP TO START OFF AS SNOW NW AND RAIN SE<\/p>\n<p>WITH A BRIEF RAIN\/SNOW MIX CAUGHT IN THE MIDDLE. THIS ZONE OF DEFORMATION<\/p>\n<p>WILL OCCUR JUST BEHIND THE COASTAL LOW AS IT STARTS TO LIFT NE<\/p>\n<p>AWAY FROM THE COAST AND AS THE COLD AND DRY ARCTIC AIRMASS QUICKLY<\/p>\n<p>POURS INTO THE REGION FROM THE NNW. THE DEFORMATION ZONE INITIALLY<\/p>\n<p>BECOMES FOCUSED OVER CTRL VA THIS EVENING (AROUND 00Z) AND THEN<\/p>\n<p>SHIFTS ALONG THE COAST BY MIDNIGHT. MEANWHILE&#8230;A SECONDARY (AND<\/p>\n<p>WEAKER) AREA OF <a href=\"http:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/glossary.php?word=FRONTOGENESIS\">FRONTOGENESIS<\/a>\/<a href=\"http:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/glossary.php?word=CONVERGENCE\">CONVERGENCE<\/a> AND ENHANCED LIFT IS<\/p>\n<p>EXPECTED TO DEVELOP ACROSS SE VA\/NE <a href=\"http:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/glossary.php?word=NC\">NC<\/a> DURING THE EVENING. AS THE LOW TRACKS NE <a href=\"http:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/glossary.php?word=TWD\">TWD<\/a><\/p>\n<p>NEW ENGLAND AFTER MIDNIGHT&#8230;SNOW WILL START TO TAPER OFF FROM<\/p>\n<p>WEST TO EAST&#8230;LINGERING NEAR THE COAST BEFORE DAYBREAK. THE<\/p>\n<p>POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR SNOW BANDS TO DEVELOP AS PRECIP STARTS TO<\/p>\n<p>WANE&#8230;HOWEVER THE ARCTIC AIR INTRUSION MAY ACT TO SHUT OFF THE<\/p>\n<p>PRECIP COMPLETELY. ALSO&#8230;A NARROW BAND OF BAY EFFECT SHOWERS ARE<\/p>\n<p>POSSIBLE TONIGHT AS GUSTY NORTH WINDS AND COLD AIR MOVE OVER THE<\/p>\n<p>WARMER WATERS OF CHES BAY.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>TOTAL SNOWFALL AMOUNTS WILL VARY FROM 5 TO 8 INCHES ACROSS NRN<\/p>\n<p>COUNTIES (GENERALLY NORTH OF INTERSTATE 64) AND THE MD\/VA EASTERN<\/p>\n<p>SHORE AND THE PREVIOUSLY ISSUED WINTER STORM WARNINGS WILL REMAIN IN<\/p>\n<p>EFFECT FROM MID MORNING THROUGH MIDNIGHT.
