The former Standard Drug building located at 102-110 East Broad is under renovation. The large gold aluminum paneled building is being uncoverd. It should be interesting to see how this project turns out.

The aluminum paneling removed from a portion of the building reveals another modern facade covering the 19th century buildings. Through a window in the 2nd facade you can see a baldy altered building with an bricked up archway. The facade had been stripped off this building for modernization. Hopefully the other buildings fared better.

I've been watching and waiting for this. I wonder what they have planned?

My guess is that the entire stretch will be torn down to make way for VCU parking.

Now now dc, why the sarcasm?

I'm eager to see how this project will unfold. This was undoubtedly one of the ugliest facade retrofits on Broad Street. The arch underneath peaks my interest for sure.

Yeah, I couldn't help myself. I just got finished reading the timeline on the A.D. Williams fate and it kind of slipped out. I do like the arch there and wonder if it will be rejuvinated. There seems to be a lot of unique architectural details hidden behind mid-20th century garbage skin. I am thinking about the Richmond Glass building too. It is around Laurel and Broad, I believe, and I recall seeing some pictures of that original facade before the metal skin.

So it's been over a year and they just got the rest of the siding removed?

Who else has looked at the Richmond Glass Company recently? Long the most pined for hidden facade, the now grimey face of the old interurban terminal has finally been uncovered. Hopefully it will be re-plastered and the grand arch opened up and re-glazed (ideally by the Glass Co.)!

I've thought that this project was brought to a halt, much like the renovations at the corner of Broad & 2nd Street.
